Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Third Place (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with our mobile application, websites, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). We collect the following information when you create an account or use the applicable features.

1. Who operates Third Place

Third Place is operated by Mundanity LLC, doing business as Third Place. Third Place helps people discover opportunities to meet matches in person at places they already spend time. For privacy questions or requests, contact privacy@thirdplaceapp.co. privacy@thirdplaceapp.co.

2. Information we collect

The categories below depend on which features you use. We do not collect every category from every user.

2.1 Account and authentication information

When you create an account, we collect account information such as your phone number and password, and an email address if you provide one for recovery or account access. We use authentication services to verify your phone number, sign you in, and help you recover access.

2.2 Profile, demographic, preference, and lifestyle information

Profile information may include details you choose to share such as your name, birth date, gender, who you are interested in, height, ethnicity, languages, religion, lifestyle preferences, occupation, and dating preferences (for example age or distance preferences). Demographic, preference, or lifestyle information helps power discovery and matching.

2.3 Photos, videos, prompts, and other content

You may upload photos or videos, answer prompts, add check-in messages, and contribute other content that appears in your profile or in features such as presence check-ins and place photos.

2.4 Home, neighborhood, saved-place, and location information

You may provide a home address and a neighborhood or coarse profile location used for discovery context and to support location features. You may also save Third Places (venues you frequent). Separately, with your permission, we collect foreground and background location from your device. See Section 5 for details.

2.5 Dating and interaction information

When you use discovery, we process interactions such as Pins, Priority Pins, passes (swipes), matches, unmatches, and related activity such as marking that you have met someone.

2.6 Presence, plans, and check-in information

We process presence information derived from location features (arrivals, departures, and place-level live presence), visit plans you set for Third Places, and check-in messages you choose to share with eligible matches.

2.7 Event participation

If you use events, we collect event registration, event-pool activity, event matches, event check-in notes, and related Event Pass or registration activity needed to operate those features.

2.8 Purchase and subscription information

If you buy a subscription or in-app product, we receive purchase, subscription, transaction, and entitlement information from Apple, Google, or our payment providers (such as Stripe for web checkout), including what is needed to verify purchases, restore entitlements, and manage billing.

2.9 Safety reports and support communications

If you submit a report, contact support, or file a bug report, we collect the content of that communication and related details (for example reason codes, contact email, and basic app or device metadata) so we can respond and keep the Services safe.

2.10 Device, notification, and diagnostic information

We collect device information such as device type, operating system, app version, push notification tokens, and installation identifiers needed to deliver notifications and operate the app. When diagnostics are enabled, we may also receive crash and error information through our diagnostics providers.

2.11 Analytics, attribution, referral, and campaign information

We collect analytics and product-usage information to understand how the Services are used and to improve them. If you arrive through a referral, campaign, or acquisition link, we may associate attribution or referral metadata (such as campaign or UTM parameters and related click data) with that visit or account.

2.12 Waitlist or marketing information

If you join a launch waitlist or similar list, we collect information you submit such as email address, location or market interest, consent details, and related campaign metadata, and we use it for waitlist administration and communications consistent with that consent.

3. How information is collected

4. How we use information

We use information for purposes such as:

5. Location data

Location is central to Third Place. This section explains the different types of location-related information and how they are used.

5.1 Types of location-related information

5.2 Features powered by location

With your permission, we collect foreground and background location data to detect when you arrive at or leave eligible Third Places (including places you save and featured partner venues). This can continue while the app is closed or not in use, and powers live presence, same-place match alerts, check-in features, and just-missed notifications.

5.3 What other users and venue partners receive

Precise location coordinates are processed to operate these features for you. Durable product signals are place-level (for example presence at a Third Place), not a continuous GPS trail shared with other users. Other users may receive place-level signals (for example that someone is at a shared Third Place), not a live GPS trail. Venue partners that appear as featured or sponsored places in the product do not receive your identifiable location samples, live attendance feeds, or individual visit histories through Third Place.

5.4 Your location controls

You can revoke foreground or background location permission in your device settings. You can also use in-app controls such as pausing Third Place notifications globally or turning off monitoring for individual places. Without background location, visit detection and related presence features remain limited or off while other parts of the app stay available.

6. How information is disclosed

We disclose information in these situations:

Some disclosures are visibility built into the product (what other users can see). Other disclosures are to service providers that process data on our behalf to operate the Services. Separately, we may disclose information when required by law or needed for safety, security, or fraud prevention.

7. Sale, advertising, and venue partners

We use service providers—such as cloud hosting, authentication, maps and places lookup, push delivery, analytics, diagnostics, and payment processors—to operate the Services. Those providers process information for us under our instructions.

Venue partners that appear as featured or sponsored places in the product do not receive your identifiable location samples, live attendance feeds, or individual visit histories through Third Place. We do not provide venue partners with a feed of who is currently at their location through the Services.

We may use analytics and attribution tools to understand product usage and how people discover Third Place. How those tools are classified under specific privacy laws can depend on configuration and legal definitions; contact us if you have questions about your choices.

8. Retention and deletion

We retain information according to the purpose for which it was collected:

9. Your choices and privacy rights

Where applicable law provides privacy rights (for example access, correction, deletion, or portability), you may exercise those rights by contacting privacy@thirdplaceapp.co. privacy@thirdplaceapp.co.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. In production, we transmit data to our Services over HTTPS/TLS, use authentication and authorization controls for account access, host the Services on managed infrastructure with access controls, and use monitoring and diagnostics to help detect issues. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Adults and age restrictions

The Services are not directed to children under the age required for use of a dating product in your region, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app is intended for adults.

12. International processing

If you access the Services from outside the country where we operate infrastructure, your information may be processed in other countries where privacy laws differ. We take steps designed to protect information appropriately.

13. Regional privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under regional privacy laws (for example rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to appeal a decision). To make a request, contact privacy@thirdplaceapp.co. We may need to verify your request before responding. privacy@thirdplaceapp.co. We may need to verify your request before responding.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services evolve. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice as appropriate.
