What is a Third Place?

The term “third place” refers to the places we spend time outside of home (our first place) and work or school (our second). Think cafés, parks, bookstores, and other spots where people gather, socialize, and feel like part of a community.

In the app, you choose the Third Places you enjoy visiting.

How does matching work?

See someone you'd like to get to know? Send them a Pin. If they Pin you back, you're a match!

A match lets you know the interest goes both ways, making it a little easier to say hello if you cross paths in person.

How do we meet in person?

When you and a match are at the same Third Place, the app will notify you.

From there, it's up to you!

Do we need to plan a date or message each other first?

Not at all! Third Place is designed to fit into your existing routine, so you don't have to manage matches in the app or arrange a date just to meet someone.

You can share Plans if you want to let matches know when you might stop by a Third Place, but there is no traditional chat in the app whatsoever.

Who can see my Third Places?

By default, your saved Third Places appear on your profile in the Feed and to matches. If you'd rather share them only with people you've matched with, you can change that in My Profile.

Can other users see where I am?

When presence is enabled, matches can see when you're at a Third Place and may receive a notification if you're both there. Presence can be turned off for individual places or paused altogether at any time.

Your precise GPS coordinates are never shown to other users.
